batch sorting- revised query

Question: hi,

in batches, my client is using internal number assignment. batch determination is automatic. the batch number

is not a characteristics i.e. not defined as a characteristics in the batch class.

there r sort rules defined but they r defined for width, type etc in production. do i need to de-activate the

sorting for these criteria in order to sort batches according to batch number. i want to sort batches on the basis

of batch numbers. kindly tell the config steps to be done in this scenario.

i have different class groups & material groups. do i need to config sorting on batch numbers for these different

groups.

also do i have to name the sort rule as the same as the class name. i will be config the same in dev & testing

the same in quality & finally t/f the same from dev to production

clarify in detail.

Answer:
batches according to the batch number, you have to define the batch number as a reference characteristic (reference to MCHA-CHARG and MCH1-CHARG) and include it in the batch class.

Or have a look into OSS note 60392.

Answer:
hi, thanks for the reply. but how to define reference characteristics. we have seen that the standard characrtistcis for the batch number is
" SAP_KKR_ORCHARG'. what is this char for.

aslo the sort rule name has to be same as class name. cud u aslo tell us whehter sort rules can be transported from dev----->qaulity----->production.

plsss clarifiy in detail pls.
