Does anybody know whether there is a way to rename roles rather than having to delete and recreate using PFCG?

Answer:
In 4.6 in PFCG: Type in the name of the Role to be copied from, click the copy button, in the copy pop-up screen ensure the 'from' name is there and type in the new name of the Role, click the copy-all button. Once this process is completed the PFCG initial screen will be presented and via the change button you can change the new Role's description and text as necessary, then click save. Test and transport as usual.
Please note that a copied Role is not like a derived Role - it has no links to the original.
