I've tried assigning an authorization group for authorization object M_MATE_MAR by defining it at tcode OMS2 but still no effect. Is there something else I have to do for the authorization group to be recognized by the authorization?

The auth object references table T134 - so double check the auth grp is on that table.

You statement is not totaly clear... If the auth group assigned to the material, defineing the auth group doesa nothing it has to be tied to the master record.
In SAP, except for table maintenance, if the auth group is blank on the master record no check is performed.

How can I tie it up to the master record so that the check can be performed as you were saying? There are two ways to define an authorization group to the mat. type: 1) via OMS2 2) SM30 table T134. I've done both and still the check isn't being performed.

Hi John,
I'm trying to limit MM01. But for now, instead of using MM01, I assigned material type specific tcodes like MMR1, MMB1, MMF1, etc. w/c can be found at SAP menu>Logistics>Materials Management>Material Master>Material>Create (Special).
If you have any suggestions for limiting MM01, i would be glad to know about it eventhough we have a solution already.

Working as configured. THe Material Master sequence chosen for MM01 does not present the authorization group field. you will have to configure MM01 to present the Authorization subscreen and make the field manditory inorder to get the control you want in MM01.
