Architecture Question ISA Product Catalogue

Question: Hi

We have a client which is interested in centralizing its product catalogue in R/3 and make it available on the internet, extranet and intranet. This is a first step, in the future they are interested of e-selling as well. They have a good material master in R/3 so I see no problem creating a nice product catalogue in the backend. The problem in this solution is that they have a PDM system, a file Server with product document and an image server with product images. These documents and data must be connected to the product catalogue and they must be displayed in the Internet Sales solution. Is it possible to integrate these document and data into the Product Catalogue and Document Management in R/3 or should we choose another way for this integration like MDM? The problem is then that we can't use ISA. But first of all I think they need a good way of synchronize their data.

Do you have knowledge in this area, please share it with me.

Best Regards// -Fredrik

Answer:
Fredrik,

I've only worked with the R/3 ISA product catalog, but there you can add images (which must have an accompanying document) and other documents in the layout section. I would think the same would be true for CRM.

The catch is ensuring that the server containing these documents and images can be accessed by the IPC.
