We are on release R/3 rel 4.7. I need help, please.
In transaction VT02N we want to secure the Shipment End date (field datan in table VTTK) and the button Shipment end . Currently the field can be edited, we want to secure for some to edit and the rest to not be able to change this field or click on the button. The date information from our carriers updates the shipment end field on the shipment. The problem we have is that this field can be filled manually by anyone. Is there a way to secure that field so that only a select few can update it?

Field level control is only available to Mater Data not documents as delivered by SAP.
Base questions are:
Are you using Security instead of training?
What is the risk ( loss) to the company?
What is the potential for occurance?
What is the cost to control?
You have change documents so you know who and when it was changed.
If you have infinite resources you have the option to create a variant tcode in SHD0 and close the field and give the 'Z' tcode to those you do not want to change the field and the real tcode to those you do. But there is an associated cost to "keep it working" during and after upgrades.
Slap their hands and fire someone, that should stop the change....
