Question:
I would like to know if there is a SAP standard role for MSS in R/3? I think there is one for ESS (SAP_ESSUSER) but cannot see a MSS equivilant.
I am trying to find out what transaction to assign the MSS role in R/3.
Answer:
With some of the newer versions of Portals, you can move the portal roles down to a corresponding R/3 system. Since MSS is mapped to mostly services and/or webdynpros (also mapped to a service), it's hard to know which tcodes and auths to grant.
Talk to your portals guy about using a screen in the following path:
System Administration > Permissions > R/3 Permissions.
You can then send these roles down to your R/3 system and import them into roles via transaction WP3R. Some of the latest support paks available have added screens to SU24 and the USOBT_C table to allow for services-to-tcode/auth mappings, similiar to tcode-to-auth mapping maintained in SAP. Give it a try. For help in doing this, visit the SDN network, and look up transaction WP3R.
Send me a PM if having trouble location the documentation and I'll send ya a link. Hope this helps.
If you want to go the other route, you can always do the easiest way out, and just ST01 your backend user ID while performing MSS functions...
