In table agr_1251 I see a field called VARIANT. What is the meaning of this field? Where can I fill it? F1 is not helping me.

Answer:
The Variant is a feature in SAP Security That has not been fully implemented in the verssions released to the public. There are several spots referencing variants in SAP security and several function modules built to maintian them but it is not used.
Its intent is to allow you to build a generic role and assign variants to a user to change the role field values based on the variants content.
Nice idea but would require the user's access to be regenerated at each logon.
