Question:
Is there any difference in the method used to count users for licensing purposes in 4.7, vs. 4.6c?
My company is evaluating 4.7, and in preliminary testing came across what appear to be differences between the 2 regarding licensing. In pfcg, there seems to be a Go To...Assignment Price List Category, and in SU01, the Measurement Data button is now missing, and it has morphed into the License Data button, which gives us an error and refers us to USMM. USMM tells us that there are no active price lists, and that we are to choose a price list.
Any need to be concerned? Is the licensing really the same, or are there major differences?
Answer:
No need to be concerned - user licensing did not change between versions, but I'm not sure about the document engines. Take a look at your 4.6C system to see which price list is applied. Apply the same price list in 4.7 and it will stop crying at you. If your SAP contract was renegotiated then your price list may have changed, but not likely.
