Question:
Created an Auth Group Z_PRFTCTR1 in RSSM for profit center hierarchy.
linked it to an Infoprovider, created hierarchy definition and linked
the Auth object to a role in DEV.
-When running queries HTML or BEX with hierarchy, reports work.
-When running queries HTML or BEX with no hierarchy, reports do
not work

Want to find out what is occurring. Ran ST01, System trace.
It did not show this object in the trace. Checked and re ran trace
for both queries and results were same no listing for auth object
Z_PRTFCTR1 .. Need help to find out what values are being passed
to this object and why query w/o hierarchy is failing.
Answer:
ST01 does not trace customer reporting objects in BW. Most of these issues (tracing, creation and activation of authorization objects etc.) are dealt with in transaction RSSM.

Is another auth object required ? and what will it contain for field values?
Answer:
Just guessing:
Your object probably has a field for profit center and another field for hierarchy. You have added the hierarchy to the hierarchy field but nothing to the profit center field.
If this is what you do you'll only see it via the hierarchy.
You need to add your hierarchy definition to the profit center field if you want to see it without the hierarchy. Because of field length restrictions you may need to create another hierarchy definition that fits the field.
