Interviewing an SAP Security person

Question: What are the best questions to asking when interviewing a potention SAP security person with 3 years of reported FI, MMPP, CO and SD experience? We are also doing CRM, APO, BW, ESS and WMS and will be doing Portals and SOLMan, but all that stuff is new event to me.

Any ideas or questions will be helpful.

I recommend logging into your test or sandpit system, and getting the person to show you how SAP Security works and what you could improve in the system. Ask them whether BW, APO, Portals work the same way as R/3, and test how confident the answer is which should start with "It depends"...

That will show whether the person can bring value, or alternately just add to confusion and overhead.

Thanks, that sounds like a plan. I always like to test my applicants. I believe that is just the thing to see if they can handle working under pressure too!

Answer:
let him explain a bit about the use of :

-The profile generator (PFCG)
-The use of Roles (master role/derived role/compound roles)
-link between authorisation objects/transactions/role/user-ID/organization levels
-Authorisation groups
-the use of SU24
-reasons why you should stick to standard SAP for authorisations, instead of always creating own authorisation objects combined with change of program code.. (in case of upgrades)
-show him a current problem, and let him do a quick analysis and proposition for improvement
