I am starting as a sap securities professional but am caught up in dilemma as to the prospects of it on a long run. So can any one enlighten me in this regard(with respect to oppurtunitis and pays). I am facing terible confusion. will it be a beneficial one to hold on to this?

SAP security is as good as any other if you are good at it and understand security controls as a whole. If you just push buttons and build roles then the prospects are not too good.

John and others have answered this before in the last year or so, use the search to locate the post.
Off the top of my head, some core skills:
Good understanding of business processes (this is what your roles are for after all).
Good understanding of risk management and controls.
Good understanding of security principles (SAP and non-SAP)
Thick skin
Ability to explain techie stuff to non techie people
Understanding of how different SAP modules interact
