Date restricted authorizations

Question: Hi there,

I pretty new to this site. I have done a search for my question but i haven't found anything.

What i'd like to know is if there is a function on SAP, that allows me to give users authorization to a certain t-code, but they muat not have authorization to it on certain dates in the month. We are running ver 4.6C.

To clarify this i'll give an example. On the first day after our month-end user should not be running PA reports, as they are not updated. No matter how many times we ask them they still run the reports. I want to be able to stop them from running the reports on these days.

Can this be done through authorizations? Is it possible at all?

Rob

Answer:
You can accomplish this at a great cost to security and in exchange for another set of "I do not have acess to my reports" calls, BUT
1. Are you trying to fix a training problem with security? Yes, this is not what security is for.
2. WHat is the Risk(loss to the company) and the potential for occurance? Low and low. Not Security's probelm.

You are not dealing with children ( I know sometimes it appears that way), the employees are adults, you do not take their toys away because they are misbehaving.

You can issue a system message that all users get when they log on stating the PA reports are not available and please do nto run the reports.

Then Issue a message when they are available.

Your other option is to lock the tcodes in SM01 but that will just trade another set of calls

Answer:
Hey

Thanks for your reply. I thought about using SM01, but i was wondering if there was another way to do it. My manager wants this done as he updates the PA reports. He receives calls from users anyway, saying that their sales figures are incorrect. How will this help...i have no idea but i'll mention it to him and see what he says.

Thanks again for the reply.

Rob.
