BW Query Structure Changes

Question: Good morning BW Security Gurus:

We are now changing security policy to let power users create/change queries in production.

That is all good except we are now having authorization issues with query structures. Issue is unable to:
1/ change a structure that was originally created in DEV or
2/ save a copy of it to a new PROD only structure
Since most of PORD queries use structures that implies not being able to cahnge the query at all...

Do you know if it is possible to set authorizations to be able to change structures in production
1/ based on naming convention (e.g. structures created in DEV start with Z* and in Prod start with US*) or
2/ developmnent class?

Thank you for your words of advice,

Catherine

Answer:
Your question doesn't resemble even slightly anything I have ever seen in BW queries.

BW Queries access infoproviders not "structures". There is no requirement in BW that anything have a z* name. Cistomers can create their own infoproviders and the only restriction that I am aware of is that they cannot start with a 0 (zero).

Answer:
Been thinking about this. The information "class" for BW is an infoprovider. It can be an infocube, an ODS or etc. These are only ever changed in development systems. Once data is "loaded" into an infoprovider it isn't changed much. To be sure some changes are possible but one typically doesn't add "fields" etc. Interim changes tend to be related to navigation, master data, and aggregates.

This is a question you need to take to the real gurus in the BW section.
