4.6C to ECC 5.0 roles

Question: I have created 4.6C roles and want to know if I can migrate those roles to ECC 5.0. I don't think I can move roles between different releases.
Now if I can is there anything special to do...?

Thanks

Katy

Answer:
I haven't tried it but the technical architecture is pretty much the same (at least looking at WAS 6.4) so I don't think its a problem. Am I mistaken on WAS 6.4 being the technical kernel of 5.0?

Answer:
So I can transport roles from 47 to 5.0?

I would think objects would be missing or changed....

Maybe John Jarboe can help?

Answer:
SAP almost never deletes objects between consecutive versions.

I am confident that you could try this (transporting one or two test roles) in a development system with no damaging effect and you could see for yourself the impact. It isn't going to corrupt the database or do something else horible.

Even when SAP changed their technical architecture radically between 4.0 and 4.5 you could transport the roles from 4.0 to 4.5 then upgrade them before using them.

Answer:
It's not much different than when you apply patches or upgrades. Therel be some differences in the USOBT and C tables, and when you import the roles you will need to do some adjustments in those tables.

Answer:
CHeck Su21 object class AAA (obsoltete objects) aswell.
