ESS: Functionality in terms of multiple authorisers

Question: Hi,

New to ESS.

Could anyone please advise on the options of allowing for multiple approvers within an organisational unit.

I have a situation where a client would like to implement ESS where they have multiple approvers of time entries. A typical scenario would be four managers/supervisors are assigned approving authority to the rest of the employees within the org unit. All employees within the org unit work various shifts and could have their time entries approved by any of the four managers/supervisors.

The standard approval, Standard Task: TS12300097, states that the approval is done via the Manager rule (Superior (chief position)). Does this mean that should each of the manager/supervisor position be assigned as chief they would recieve all approval requests submitted by employees? If so is there a standard method for approvers to see if an approval has been completed by one of the other approvers?
Is there a one to one relationship between approval request and approver?

Is there any way within standard ESS to enable the use of multiple approvers at the same level within an organisational unit.

Thanks

Hello,
Can I recommend you try the following;

I believe that if you do not setup line reports in OM, (i.e. no A|002 / B|002 relationships) but you do setup chiefs in the OU (relationship A|012), time sheets should be sent to all the chiefs.

When any of the chiefs open the work item, it is reserved by them and removed from the in-tray of all the others. So other managers will not see the items already processed by others.

Please note that the act of opening the work item reserves it, not the act of approving the time - so if someone opens a work item and decides it should have been processed by someone else, they will need to forward it to that person to put it back into the correct manager's in-tray.

Hope this helps.
