Role Translations / languages

Question: Dear friends of SAP security,

we are currently preparing a role concept for an international Enterprise 4.7 system. We agreed on an English technical role naming convention, but

1) there is a need to have the role description in several languages
2) there is a need for role menues (one per role) also in different languages

Of course we could log on in different languages and change those by hand, but I would imagine, there is a more efficient way to do this. CATT, table changes ...?

So, what are your ideas ? Any help is most welcome!
Hope to hear from you...

Regards, Stephan

Answer:
There is a button in PFCG which allows you to translate the node as you maintian . You can also use the translation tool SE63 under short or long test, further objects. and it may appear opposite thatn you thing, the Master language may be german even though you created it in english

Answer:
Thanks John,

I noticed this button, but it only takes me half the way as I still need to do it per role that way. I found out that the menu folder title is stored in table AGR_HIERT (object ID=0000002 as it is one Folder per role with all tcodes within that) and that the role description sits in AGR_TEXTS (line 00000).

Do you see a risk in changing (or better adding lines to) those tables? Or can I use a CATT-script for that (data coming from an Excel spreadsheet).

Any futher help is greatly appreciated.

Regards,
Stephan

Answer:
You can do it programatically you have ot be VERY careful with AGR_HIERT.
This is what tcode SE63 is for.

Answer:
Well, thanks again. I will give it a try.
