Lost DDIC password during installation

Question: Hi,

We are in a middle of a installation.
Somehow we lost the sap* /ddic password changed during installation process.
Now, at 98% progress bar, R3SETUP is trying to complete phase:

Error: RFCRADDBDIF_IND_IND CRfcPing 2 1148
Pinging of RFC destination failed.
Error: RFCRADDBDIF_IND_IND InstallationDo 2 1148
Phase failed.
Error: Main {} 2 1148
Installation aborted.

In INSTGUI windows, DDIC password is asked.
We don't remember it.

Is there a way to reset DDIC password?
Or change the installation Step where DDIC password is set in order to recreate this user again?

Please help, we are stoped in this installation...

Tanks.

Are you able to login to SAP with SAP* and its default password?

Answer:
No,

at this phase, SAP starts but frontend is returning error:

"Error when generating text environment"

Can't run anything...

Any ideia?

Hi,

I'm using Solaris 9 64bits.

I remember about the need to link languague in Solaris 7 and 8 but I don't know if is is necessary in Solaris 9.

If I could solve the logon problem (I think is is related with locale settings) I will be able to reset DDIC password and continue the installation.

Hi,

I solved partialy the GUI problem:
http://www.weberdev.com/Manuals/FreeBSDHandbook/sapr3.html

10.7.13.5 ``TEXTENV_INVALID'' during R3SETUP, RFC or SAPgui Start
If this error is encountered, the correct locale is missing. SAP Note 0171356 lists the necessary RPMs that need be installed (e.g. saplocales-1.0-3, saposcheck-1.0-1 for RedHat 6.1). In case you ignored all the related errors and set the corresponding STATUS from ERROR to OK (in CENTRDB.R3S) every time R3SETUP complained and just restarted R3SETUP, the SAP system will not be properly configured and you will then not be able to connect to the system with a SAPgui, even though the system can be started. Trying to connect with the old Linux SAPgui gave the following messages:

Sat May 5 14:23:14 2001 *** ERROR => no valid userarea given [trgmsgo. 0401] Sat May 5 14:23:22 2001 *** ERROR => ERROR NR 24 occured [trgmsgi. 0410] *** ERROR => Error when generating text environment. [trgmsgi. 0435] *** ERROR => function failed [trgmsgi. 0447] *** ERROR => no socket operation allowed [trxio.c 3363] Speicherzugriffsfehler This behavior is due to SAP R/3 being unable to correctly assign a locale and also not being properly configured itself (missing entries in some database tables). To be able to connect to SAP, add the following entries to file DEFAULT.PFL (see Note 0043288):

abap/set_etct_env_at_new_mode = 0 install/collate/active = 0 rscp/TCP0B = TCP0B Restart the SAP system. Now you can connect to the system, even though country-specific language settings might not work as expected. After correcting country settings (and providing the correct locales), these entries can be removed from DEFAULT.PFL and the SAP system can be restarted.

But now GUI hangs and no information is returned.
Nor compilation clock messages or else.

Hi,

As I guess its not the password problem, The SAP server might not be started, check the MMC console and check weather the SAP services are started. And even check you might forgot the hostfile entry.
