Question:
hi experts,
I had heard that custom role names should start with Y OR Z so after upgrade they can be identified from standard SAP roles. Would somebody please tell me how important it is to adhere to this or may be it is not important at all?
Thanks in advance for your input.
Thanks,
Ani
Answer:
Not at all important. SAP roles start with SAP_. You can name your roles anything else.
Answer:
I agree with guest, call them what you like but you cant use the S* namespace if I recall correctly
I prefer to use a : in the string to differentiate my roles but you don't have to
Answer:
THe Y an Z convention are for Development objects NOT Master Data , Roles, profiles, and Authorizations are MASTER DATA not configuration or Development objects.
Naming you roles should be such that they SORT correctly on the user menu ( i.e. Generic stull at the bottom) and/or Workplace (non-GUI SAP access). They sort by techinical name. The convention should also help you find your data , the ':' (an old SAP Profile customer vs SAP convention) is an easy way to find your role. SOme use company, country or continent starter, then module and then specifics. Z and Y are NOT needed.
Answer:
Just Name the roles whatever you'd like. There doesn't have to be a standard. It would be nice if they made sense though.
