Question:
Hi
Can some one advise me on some options for creating role based menu access?
Currently we use a area menu as our main menu for users to select there access.
Moving to the role based menu access, I'd like to keep our base roles (eg access to SU53) without having to make changes.
Is there any way of the users having access to the base role access but the content not appearing in their main menu for selection?
I know of the option to remove the transaction code from the menu tab and only have the transaction code in s_tcode but I looking for other options?
Any other advise on set up also appreciate.
Your advise much appreciate in advance.
Alice
Answer:
If you beleive you do not want the base role to show up (which you should want as not all users remember all the base stuff tcodes) you can enter the tcodes in the system parameter that is used to not check S_TCODE on the list of tcodes( intended for SU53 and SU56). This is done in RZ10.
The better option is to adopt a naming convention so the base tcodes role sort to the bottom of the list of menus the user has based on the roles assigned. The sort is done by the technical name.

Answer:
There is another way to have them not show up. Use the authorization defaults button in the menu tab of the profile generator. It will add an S_TCODE authorization without it showing in the menu.
No yucky messing around with system parameters.
