Question:
How can you re-activate password for a user that has been deactivated? In the change password screen, only the "deactivate" option is available. I looked in SAPFans Search but there are no topics with this particular issue. Your help is appreciated.
Thanks!
Answer:
What do you mean by "a user that has been deactivated."? Has the UserID been locked? If so, just unlock the UserID. The password will still be valid. If the user has forgotten the pswd just reset it. Am I missing something here?

Answer:
In addition, here is some text from the on-line SAP documentation:
"The user administrator can remove the individual password activation by assigning a new password; if password logon is deactivated in general, assigning a password does not mean that the user can log on using a password."
So if you were asking to "reactivate" their old pswd without having to reset it then I think this is not possible.

Answer:
Once you deactivate password for a user - the user cannot logon using a password. What I'm asking is, how can you re-activate the use of password for the user to login again? In the "change password" window, that option is not available.
Answer:
Have you tried to enter a new password? This should reactivate it.
Answer:
No, I've tried it. This does not reactivate password logon.
Answer:
Change the both the Initial Password and Repeat password. Then press Enter - the password will get activated again.
Answer:
I've tried that several times - "Changing the initial password and repeat password" - and saving it. I even receive the confirmation that the password has been changed. But the user's password logon remains deactivated.
Answer:
Hi,
Don't try to enter a new password. Simply select 'Generate' (magic wand icon) selection which is beside the deactivate icon.

Answer:
I tried all of the above recommendations before posting this topic. So yes - The 'Generate' (magic wand icon) selection which is beside the deactivate icon changes the password. I even receive the confirmation that the password has been changed. But the user's password logon remains deactivated.
Answer:
Selecting the Generate icon does reactivate a deactivated password. Either there is something wrong with your system or perhaps you are missing a step or adding one unnecessarily?
Answer:
You're right - beam_me_up - but it works for ECC 5.0 version not R/3 Release 4.6C. Anyway, thank you all for your recommendations.
Answer:
Hi
We can re-activate password account for the user to login again either by regenerating password or reseting password. This will automatically reactivate user account with given password. I checked today on SAP R/3 4.6C system which is running on SAP_BASIS support pack level 51.
