Question:
I have made 0PROFIT_CTR authorization relevant, created an authorization object with one field (0PROFIT_CTR) and linked it to my InfoProvider and creeaed a role with an authorization for specific profit centers.
When I select the profit centers from a hierarchy right at the lowest level I can see them. When I select a node one level higher (that includes all the profit centers I am authorized to see) I can't see any of them. I get message that I don't have authorization for the hierarchy node.
I don't use hierarchy node in any authorizations and I don't want to control on hierarchy. Why can't I see the authorized cost centers?
Thanks
Answer:
Take a look at OSS note 654947 and see if this applies.

This helps but also disappoints. There doesn't seem to be a good way with compound characteristics to navigate with a hierarchy based on one of the characteristics while only allowing access to selected characteristcs. I hate surrendering navigability for security. I think I should be able to have both.
In particular I am trying to reproduce the concept of a standard hierarchy in BW. SAP treats each hierarchy as something that must be authorized. That is a nuisance, especially when importing hierarchies (groups) from R3 that were created in an ad hoc way to support reporting etc.
