We are creating a testing environment. We install IDES versions for ECC 5.0, BW 3.5, CRM 4.0 and I guess there is no IDES version for EP 6.0. Now, the question is about licensing of Enterprise Portal. I know we dont need to install solution manager to get the License Key for IDES versions and they are good for 30 days. How about EP 6.0? Since it is not an IDES version, do I need to install Solution Manager to generate License Key? Please let me know how to go about this.

You're mixing license key with Installation key. You need Solution Manager in order to generate an installation key.
