Impact if i change profil parameter (password length)

Question: Hello,

I would like to know what it happens if i change this parameter, Login/min_password_lng, from 3 to 8.

1- All dialog users will have to change their password or only those who don't have a password with 8 characters !

2- Same questions for communications and system users.

3- If you have another important remark, please tell me.

Thanks!

Answer:
no-one ?

Answer:
I've had a look on sapnet for you but couldn't find anything about immediate impact on change of the parameter. I suspect that the password length is only checked on password change.

I'd be surprised if a parameter change would immediately expire all passwords that don't comply to the new setting. I know for sure that changeing the table with "forbidden passwords" doesn't affect passwords that are already in place.

About the "no-one?"-post, dont be so impatient

Answer:
The changing of this parameter would only hit users when they have to change their passwords. They will not be forced to change until their current password expires.

Answer:
I concur with Henrik

Sorry for my no-one post but i've some pressure to do that.

What release are you on?

If you use some of the advanced password rules, then the password is also checked at logon time, not only when it is changed.

Which is exactly the advanced password rules ? Is there no advanced password rules on 46C ?

Answer:
Not sure if OS refers to the new password rules in ECC6, but I have never experienced any problems on the fly by changing password parameters before.

Dialog users will only have to comply with the new rules when changing passwords. Background users will never be effected cause they does not have to change password.
