Question:
Hi,
Im interested in "cleaning" our SAP users list.
I would like to know if there is any side effects in deleting users;
Is there any reason I shouldnt delete unnecessary users and lock them only?

Hi,
Deleting the mass users would technically no risky,it is almost like deleting a single user,
But i guess when you are deleting a big nuber of users , the question is raised by the auditors, i guess you and the client should be in a position to give valid reasons to the act.

Hi,
One more point :
Before deleting user/s, please make sure there is no other dependencies for that user/s. Like, no back ground job is running under that user/s.
Otherwise those job will not run and will give problem.

Also be aware that some processes in PM can not be processed if the user orginally creating the process has been deleted.
And for audit reasons you need to be able to identy the persons behind the UID for many years after the user is no longer active.
So a better way: NOT DELETE, but LOCK the UID, Take the roles away and change the usertype. As in Not having to pay licanse fees anymore for these users.

Hi,
Also note that when looking at change documents in certain transactions, only the user-id & not the full name is shown, if the user master record is deleted.

Prash330, will change docs for authorization changes be still available if the user master record is deleted? Reason for asking is that I want to keep record of what authorizations were assigned to particular user even if the person is no longer with the company and account deleted.
Answer:
Hi Iseph,
Yes, change docs for authorisations will always remain on the system, even if the user master record is deleted.
