In 40b activity groups have a description of, for example....
M:PU_MGR1
after upgrade to 4.7, they are automatically converted to roles with a new name, for example.....
T_50014913_M:PU_MGR1
Does anyone know how SAP determines the T_number ?

Answer:
It looks like it takes the auto generated profile number, puts a "T_" in front of it and appends it to the front of the Profile name. If you did not accept auto genereated number when the profile was created, then the role name would have T_<name><profile_name> instead of the number.
