In SU01, if I choose Other Communication...then INT...put in the SMTP address...and check OK, the Communication Method below the email address defaults to Remote Mail. I specifically choose INT, not RML for the communcation method.

Ok..more information.
Even if no SMTP address is entered within the "Other Communication" field, the "Comm Meth" defaults to Remote Mail when creating a new user. Therefore, if an Internet address is entered, then Remote Mail still remains as the Comm Meth.

We are currently having that problem as well with SAP 4.7.
Whenever we go to create a new user, the Comm. Meth selection box is automatically prepopulated with "Remote Mail"
....after a CATT script, now we've got hundreds of users that need to be changed from "Remote Mail" to "Email" (or nothing) because their SMTP addresses are not working now.
Did you find a solution to this...or find the cause?

However, if anyone has any suggestions, even way out there, as to how this could of occured, it would be greatly appreciated.
Again..in short: Whenever a new user is created in SU01, the Communication Method defaults (is already prepopulated) with "Remote Mail" This really stinks if you had run a CATT script and loaded a bunch of users and they all have to be changed from Remote Mail to Email.
Oh...and of course SUCOMP is not set to Remote Mail. Strangely enough, even if I change the comm method in SUCOMP to say POST, it has no affect.
