Don't know if it is possible but I have to change the descriptions on 700+ roles and they are segregated into groups where the description would be exactly the same.
Is there a way of mass changing role descriptions so that I don't have to go into each one individually via PFCG???
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

have you considered downloading the roles (functionality in PFCG) to text files and altering the description in these files?
Look for lines beginning with "AGR_TEXTS". Maybe you can do something with a macro in Word. Just make sure to keep the files text-only.

You can create an CATT script (transaction SCAT or SECATT) to do it. That kind of change is very easy to repeat.
