Has anyone setup security for HR in BW. Did you bring over the structural authorization from R/3 or did anyone create a customized object in BW to restrict the user by org unit. Can some please let me know

I did a huge BW HR project aprox 2 years ago
We were advised that transfering Structural Auth from R/3 is known to fail so we did not implement. We did create custom auth objects based on HR data. it works, but because of errors in R/3 data we had a lot of trouble with it. Main reason seemed to be that the orgdata were deleted/changed in R/3. So the restrictions did not function properly after the next dataload.
