Question:
Hello,
I need to connect a Pocket PC, HP Jornada, with R/3, for access to the
transaction "Purchase Requisition Release".
We have R/3 Enterprise. What are the steps to follow for this issue?
I don't find information.
Best Regards,
Carol
Answer:
Carol,
You will need to consider what technology you wish to use to create a mobile solution assuming you do not have one already. To my knowledge, you have a few options that vary greatly on price/functionality. You will need to evaluate each against your requirements to decide what is best.
1. "SAP Mobile" is the newest architecture from SAP but it does require the Netweaver platform.
2. You can find several vendors that have a modified version of SAPconsole. This was originally developed by SAP for RF integration of the WM module. Acsis and Catalyst are two such vendors.
3. Another solution I have seen adds a mobile framework to your existing system for all modules: http://www.amprofessionals.com/solutions/vti.html This is written in ABAP, therefore, it is not middleware.
4. A middleware solution such as o2 or Websphere that sits between your device and SAP. There are many solutions that fall into this category.
All of these choices have positives/negatives and really require some extensive analysis to make an informed decision. Best of luck.
