Question:
We are using an external LDAP for user authentication via portal UME and SSO ticket generation in SAP portal to access R/3, is it possible to configure SAP R/3 internal electronic signature prompts to use an external authentication source? We were planning on deactivating the local password for our SAP end users, so they have to use the portal / SSO logon method instead of bypassing via GUI.We would like to keep this setup, but we have not been able to find out how to utilize an external user source for e-sig authentication.
I know there are other SAP customers who use the Portal/SSO authentication strategy into R/3 and also rely on digital signatures within R/3. Has anyone come across this problem or know the best method to set this up?
I appreciate any help in advance.

Hi,
If you want to configure SSO in EP & R/3 then check out this below link:

Answer:
Thanks for the link, but we already have set up SSO between portal and R/3.
My issue is that authentication prompts for e-sigs within SAP R/3 point to the local R/3 user/password store. If we are using Portal authentication with LDAP and SSO so that a local pwd is not needed in R/3, how do we authenticate electronic signatures? Is there a way that e-sigs can be pointed to an external authentication source?
Thanks in advance
