Answer:
Look in SU24 and you will see that the object M_MATE_MAR is available in which you can restrict on material Types

Answer:
This access is controlled by auth obj M_MATE_MAR available in MM01 t_code.

Example of settings would be

ACTVT 1

BEGRU FERT

Hope this helps

Hi,
i am not able to see the activity type. under the object M_MATE_MAR. In PFCG.

Manjubs

probably you create roles in a development system, that has not been configured the right way.

Two ways to solve this:
1 look in a role in Production were this field is in (if not cerate a temprary test role) and see what values you find there.
2 let a functional consultant (MM) tell you on which values you need te restrict.
3 add that value(s) manually in the role in def.

By the way you should allways check with functional consultants and business for the aplied restriction values.

Answer:
Manjubs,

the object M_MATE_MAR is right, but with default SAP R/3, no
restrictions are active on material types so the object is not
tested.

In order to get this active (for certain material types), the material
type definition in customizing must be adjusted. In there, there's
a field called authorization group (blank by default). Any value entered
there will be tested on the object M_MATE_MAR as soon as someone
tries to maintain a material of that particular type.

The customizing change is normally done by the responsible for material
types and in Development. Make sure you test that half of the world
is not suddenly stopped from working before the change is activated
in Production.
