Position Based Security?

Question: Currently we have position based security setup on our r/3 system. I would like to know if there is a way to do position based security for our BW system. Has anyone ever had this setup or know of a way that I could accomplish this, It would really help me.
Thanks in advance for all your help.

Answer:
Hi

We use position based security in our ERP system but chose to use structural auths in our BW system. We created auth objects based on the hierarchy of the org structure. We used the HR structre, the Profit centre structre and the Cost centre structures.

Not exactly an answer to your question more an option to consider.

Answer:
i have implemented hr-org and position-based authorization in both, erp and bi systems. i distribute the hr-model (the daily changes) once a day via ALE from the central point of the CUA. Philosophy is: single point of changes. so in the CUA-central users are created, changed and distributed vial ALE (immediately). the hr-model is maintained there and ale-distributed once a day. roles are transported once a day. the whole process is fully automatic without my having to do the same job in different systems it works fine for abt. 450 users (don't know if this will still be performant if there's more than 1000).

Hi thx4allthefish,

Do you have documentation or procedures for implementing hr-org and position-based authorization in both, erp and bi systems? What is needed to be done in BI to enable hr-org and position-based authorization? Thanks.

One of my old clients does very similar for about 18000 users so it does scale up OK
