Question:
Dear Gurus,
When a user is running LSMW, he is getting the error message
'You do not have the authority for project...'
How do I give him authority?

Hi Helen,
Give all authorisations (*) for Authorisation object B_LSMW_PRO.

I would rather give him B_LSMW_EXEC profile - more restrictive.

Answer:
In my system, the object B_LSMW_PRO is not there at all!
Can somebody confirm that this object is only present as of version 4.7?
Is there any other way (customer exits perhaps) how to restrict the use of LSMW to some functional area?
Thank you for your answers!

LSMW typically calls application functionality (frequently using BDC methods) to process inputs. This requires that the user have functional authority. The B_LSMWauthority check also checks transaction code called.
