Answer:
This object value will be determined by the free text field in OB52 under auth object.
When a period is closed and you want some people to be able to post to it you may have 0001 as auth group against it. Unless a user has a role with F_BKPF_BUP and 0001 they won't be able to post.
You obviously wouldn't want all users to have this object maintained if the client does allow posting to "closed" periods
Answer:
Does the period need to be open in order to allow the posting to a restricted period (assigned auth group 0001? Or can it be closed?
Answer:
There are two sets of posting period in OB5, one for closed perios, one for open. The "closed" period set are contolled by the auth group ( it does not have to be 0001) the "open set" are no controlled. If the period you want to post to is not specified in either set of periods then you cannot post to it regardless of the authorizations.
Answer:
One common mistake is that posting periods are not used properly by the client. If the period to be managed (as the prior period) is not in the first column range (as Dr. Jarboe has noted) then you won't control anything. Second, the authorization group only applies to the + line in account type. You cannot selectively close ranges or specific account types with the authorization group. (Without a lot of custom programming anyway)
