Question:
We use a user status to show that the work associated with a work order has been physically completed. This is a bit painful, as we can change user status only one order at a time, and there may be many jobs that have been completed that day.
can anyone advise
1. how to do list edit change to user status for multiple orders
2. What other methods are there of signifying that the job is physically complete, that are searchable by list edit or other and can be reported on
Answer:
Dear Mick,
If you want to change the user status when you technically complete an PM order you can set in customising of user status.
In SPRO Go to Plant Maintenance and Customer Service->Master Data in Plant Maintenance and Customer Service->Basic Settings->Define User Status And select the required status profile. Go to detail screen of the status profile select the required status and go the detail screen. Click on the create button . Scroll down and for business transaction technically complete in the next action screen area select set and save.
Whenever you technically complete an order with this status profile required user status will automatically be set.
Regards,

Thanks Krishnaraj,
When we set the user status, the maintainer or craftsman has completed the job physically, but time may not be confirmed, costs will not have settled and accounts not paid, therefore I would rather not technically complete the order at that stage.
We are using the user status ACC (task complete) to manage our backlog of work. If the task is complete, the maintenance planner can disregard it.
It is a good way to signify a task is finished but I am looking for a better or more simple way to do this.
I don't see a benifit in setting user status when technically completing as i can do a list edit for System staus technically complete.
How does you company manage its backlog. How does it show that a craftsman has completed the job.
thanks for your input, I really appreciate it

Answer:
hello Mick,
in the 'technical complete'-status, you still can confirm hours, do goods receipts, and settle the costs afterwards. So I think the 'Technical complete'-status should cover your needs.
This status can be set in the list display transaction IW38.
Otherwise - if you really want to stick to your user status -, a modification ( ) of IW38 should do the trick.

In our company, technically complete (TECO) was defined as all costs, comfirmations etc were done, back in the 3.1I days, when we couldn't settle costs after TECO.
Are you saying that TECO can be defined as the maintainer has physically finished his job
Thanks
Mick
Answer:
hello Mick,
that's correct. Standard SAP allows additional confirmations of material and manhours to be done
Setting the TECO will have the following effects :
- outstanding reservations for material (planned in IW32) are cleared
- outstanding capacity requirements are cleared
be aware that confirming hours will only be possible when customising of PM confirmation allows this. And SAP will generate warnings (no error!) when confirming activities

Hi there
I think its worth pointing out that any additional postings can be done when an order is technically complete, including issuing unplanned components to the order.
Technicall Completion has little value as a SAP standard without invoking some form of user status.
On its own, Reservations and p/r are cancelled along with capacity requirements, other than that the order allows all postings

using sustem status CNF could be the answer then, what do you think? An operation is finally confirmed when it is completed. When all operations are CNF'ed, then System status changes to CNF in the header.
We take this information from the time sheet (180 maintainers and different levels of accuracy in timesheets)
can you see any problems with this method?
thanks

Hi ,
A.It seems that you like only to get information about physical completion of JOB by particular workcentre. To achieve this specific objective
1.You can always partially confirm operations - if that operation is not confirmed completely.
2.Incase that job is completed - operation you can go for final confirm.
So even for single order having some operations not confirmed, partially confirmed & finally confirmed - you can differentiate from operation to operation.Use status include & status exclude fields.IW49
B.Order status :
1.If some opearations are not finally confirmed , order will have status
partially confirmed .
2.Once all the operations are confirmed order will get status CONFIRM.
So searching jobs not finally confirmed & finally confirmed will be very easy.
C.For confirming the jobs collectively ;you use IW44, for sorting order & operations.
