Question:
Ok. I've run into a problem and I'm sure I'm just not seeing the tree for the forest... It has to be something really stupid that I'm not doing...
I have three 04 inspection types,
04
0401
0402.
All use an 04 inspection origin of course.
I have a selected set that has a follow-up action. The follow-up action is used on many selected sets.
When I set 0401 or 0402 as the preferred inspection type, only one selected set shows up to select a UD code from. When I process these lots, no values are transferred to the batch record.
Now I set 04 as the preferred inspection type. The first thing that is strange is that I can now pick any selected set available.
If I select the same selected set that is used by the 0401 and 0402 insp. types, once again, no values are copied to the batch record.
If however, I select a different selected set, the values are copied to the batch record. The different selected set uses the exact same follow-up action.
So.. two questions..
1) What is causing the 0401 and 0402 inspection types to use the specific selected set but yet the 04 can use any selected set?
2) Why would one code allow copying to the batch record while another doesn't even though they use the same follow-up actions and are created from the same set of group codes?
BTW: I searched OSS for notes already. This is a 4.6C system. And all the experiments I did used the same process order number to create the inspection lots. (Did mulitple receipts with different batch numbers and edited the material master in between receipts.)
Maybe in the morning I'll see something I didn't see before. In the meantime any help is appreciated!

Answer:
Hi Craig,
I'll bet you have checked this. In IMG: Default values for Inspection type, you have set "Selected set from the same plant" for 0401 and 0402 but not for insp. type 04.

Answer:
Hello ,
I have checked your problem in my system. I suppose that on the inspection type 04, you have not changed the standard configuration on the UD selected set. ( IMG- > QM -> quality inspection -> inspection lot creation -> Maintain inspection types ) or you can also indicate on the same point in customizing the flag " selected set in the same plant".
I hope this helps you,
bye
Answer:
Ok.. you two solved the one problem.. I forgot that you can add the selected set there in the inspection type configuration setting.. I was thinking it was a plant level.. I knew I was having a brain freeze!
Ok. but now for the real issue.. why can't I get the results to transfer to the batch? When I choose a partiular selected set, the results do not transfer to the batch. Other selected sets do... and they all use the same follow-up action. Same material, 04 lots all created even from the same process order.

Answer:
Have you use a class characteristic ? Are the same ones in the three origins?
I 'm running with 0401 and 0402, and the results transfer to the batch.
My guess are not master data correct.
Can you give me more hints??
Sorry,
Answer:
Yep. the characteristics are all the same in all three origins. I made sure of this by creating one process order.
Test 1:
I did a GR with 04 as the prefererd inspec. type. and processed the lot. The results transfer if I use a selected set other then the one I normally would use. Yet the selected set used is identical in all respects and is made up from the same group codes and uses the same follow-up action.
Test 2: Changed material master and set 0401 as the preferred. Did another GR and got a new lot. Processed lot. Results did not transfer.
Test 3: Changed material master and set 0402 as the preferred. Did another GR and got a new lot. Processed lot. Results did not transfer.
Test 4: Changed material master and set 04 as the preferred. Did another GR and got a new lot. Processed lot and used same selected set as in Test 2 and 3. Results did not transfer.
Test 5: Left 04 as the preferred type. Did another GR and got a new lot. Process lot but used a different selected set, (a repeat of test 1 basically). Results transferred to batch.
It seems to me that the issue is something to do with the particular selected set being used.. But I don't see any differences in the selected sets except that they are created in different plants.

Answer:
this is strange all right, Craig! did you check if the settings related with
"synchronous update" of the FM associated to the follow-on-function
(OQV1) have any impact?
also, could the selected set code setting related with the "background
processing of stock window" have any impact... never seen this having
impact in the batch classification but it seems at this stage anything
is worth to be checked...
let us know how it goes.

Answer:
I checked the "syncUPdt" and "AftUpdt" settings on the follow-up action. Neither are set. Besides, I used the same follow-up action is used on all selected sets. These two settings are on the function module of the follow-up action and not the selected set. So it doesn't really matter what selected I pick, the followup action is the same and the settings are the same.
Thanks Daniel for the input.

Answer:
Hi Craig,
Have you fix this issue? I got a similar issue.
I use Batch to transfer Character. For Material A, In UD, when I select the UD codes OK(accept), but press the New material button, and transfer the A to B. the character transfered to B.
But when I selected the UD code NOK(reject) , also transfer to new material. the Character is missing in B.
Is the valuation of UD code effect the transfer of character?
regards,
gx
Answer:
I haven't seen the valuation affect the batch transfer of results. This would be something new. My problem was never really resolved that I know of. It wasn't a very common for the client as we were only seeing the problem on the extra 0401, 0402 inspection origins which was very uncommon. Our project was completed and I've moved on to another project. So I can't say for sure if they ever pursued the problem.
