How to transfer RR data for one inspection lot to another?

Question: HI,

I was wondering on how to transfer RR data from inspection lot to another. Well the problem is i have to activate QM in SD. It is not possible for the client to record results for data of each delivery. I am planning to transfer the RR data of inspection lot with origin 03 to the inspection lot generated while creating delivery from sales order.

Any posting, in reply would be highly appreciated.

Rahul

Answer:
according to prolific QM-Dude this functionality is not available yet, but it is about to be made available this Autumn. run a search in his postings and you will find some interesting insights. also check OSS as updates are posted there immediately upon release.

Just wondering why you have to always create a type 10 inspection lot when it appers you already have the results recorded? Type 10's are usually only used for limited, special customer testing or in some business scenario's, bulk deliveries loaded from silos in which the sample is fully tested for each tank truck or rail car.

If you maybe give us an idea perhaps there might be some other suggestions for you.

Hi,

Thanks Daniel and Craig

Craig, your question is quiet obvious regarding the necessity of inspiction type of lot 10.

We havent implemented qm in sd as it will create insp lot for each delivery. The requirment has now arised for a quality certificate. Client wants a certifciate with the data of delivery and sales order. That is sales order number, delivery date and delivery number. I donot think that it is possible without activating QM in SD. The best possible soultion is to transfer the RR data from insp lot origin 03 to insp lot created with delivery.

Do you think there is an alternate solution for the same.

Please suggest your input regarding the same.

Answer:
if the need for a CoA is your reason dont go for the the RR copy functionality (that might not even be available yet). one sugestion (Craig might have another one):

Assumption:
link your Master Inspection Characteristic results to your batch General Characteristics and turn your batch into main data repository.

Scenario 1: CoA to be printed at Delivery step (VL01N or VL02N)
create a message type in SD to be printed with your Delivery documents pulling the batch GC contents and the delivery specific data.

Scenario 2: CoA per Delivery (QC20)
straighforward QM functionality with no need of extra inspection lot. create your certificate profile and ask your ABAPer to change your form to print the Delivery relevant data (e.g. date, Delivery nr, Sales Order nr). the other values could be read either from the MIC or from the GC.

let us know how it goes.

Answer:
Yes.. it sounds like you don't need the inspection type 10 activated at all. If all you need is the COA then create the COA using either results from the batch record or the 03 inspection lot or other lot, (04?).

The standard COA sapscript layout provided by SAP as an example already prints the delivery number, delivery date and Sales Order number in it. I would have thought your ABAP'ers would have used this as a starting point in their development for your COA?

Normally COA's are printed via the outputs from the delivery. So getting delivery information and order information is not usually a problem.

Hi DP and Craig,

Once again thanks for your valuable suggestion. I am thinking to work out on either of the solutions. I am also thinking on feasibility of another solution. That is creating one more operation in master recepie. This operation will contain charecteristic of order no., delivery and delivery. Again RR should be mandated at the time of delivery with one additional(newly created) operation on inspection lot with origin 03.

Well i am working on it and will get back to you by end of the day with the results.

Thanks and Regards,

Answer:
I'm still lost as too why your pursuing the idea of needing to record the delivery, delivery date and order number in an inspection lot?

It's not needed!

The COA print program already has that data available and it is already printed in the standard COA sapscript layout set provided by SAP as an example.

Unless your not creating deliveries in SAP I'm lost as to why this is a problem. It is very basic, standard, SAP COA functionality.

Craig

PS> Besides.. doing dates in inspection lots via an MIC is not that easy..

Answer:
Hi Craig,

I was thinking the same way to create certificate againts delivery but could not do so as there was no inspection lot assigned to delivery. I think this was only possible if QM in SD was acitivated for the material/customer.

Please proivde me your inputs in case we can print quality certificate for delivery without activating QM in SD

Regards,
Rahul

Answer:
You need to create a certificate receipient record in SAP and make sure the COA output is properly populated to the Delivery. Then as long as the Cert Profile finds an inspection lot, (it doesn't have to be a type 10 inspection), then the certificate should print.

Answer:
as of 4.7, SAP provided an R/3 Extension Set 2.00 (Interface for copying inspection results). check note 596648.

Answer:
Hi All

I read this note 596648 and though I'm on 470x110 it seems that all mentioned objects and corrections are in place due to the current support package level.
But I still can't find any menu items or buttons that initiate a copy of results.

You cannot create a BADI implementation as the BADI is SAP internal as stated in the note. So it must be there and active somewhere in the system.

Anybody tried this?
