Question:
Hi !
I know this is pretty basic in QM, but we've never used Insp.plans and there's a cut on the training budget so I have to do this as a self study.
So far we've only been inspecting using Material specification and not Inspection plan. Now we're implementing a new plant and it seems like I'm going to be using Insp.plans.
My problem is that when I'm testing I can't get the insp.lot released. When checking the insp.lot the plan isn't assigned, and when I try to do it maually the system tells me it can't find the plan.
I've done the following settings :
- Insp.type 04 is set to inspect with Task list, and Task list usage : 5.
- The insp.plan has usage 5 and status 4 (Released), and is assigned to Material and Plant.
- I've assigned a MIC to the Insp.plan. (This MIC's have been made by referencing a Class characteristic to create the link, and it's released.)
When I run a check on my plan, I don't get any messages in my log, thus I've been assuming that is't OK.
What have I missed ? I've tried to start simple, but have I made it too simple, thus forgetting something important ?
Any help will be highly appreciated.

Hi,
When using inspection type 04 i think you want to have inspection linked to production. In that case you have to use usage code 1 instead of 5 in your inspection plan. Usage code 5 is normally linked to insepction type 01.

Answer:
I have had a scenario in which I have activated inspection type 04 using inspection plans with usage 5, so you can be sure it works.
As far as inspection type 04 is concerned, it is meant to post your stock to inspection stock. Now since you have used task list type 5, your inspection lot will get generated when you G.R. your goods, i.e. when they move to inspection stock. And when u go to record your results, this is where the inspection lot is released.
Could you check if there is any other task list type 05 to your material? Because, in that case, the inspection char will not be attached to your order.
Could you also tell us, when exactly do you want to do the result recording? Because like I said before, the inspection lot will be released only when you go to record the results after the G.R.

Answer:
Hi !
I want my inspection lot to be created (and released) at the time of GR to QI. The results should then be recorded. That's also how it's working normally with the Material spec.
What I see is that when I do my GR, stock is posted to QI and the insp.lot is created. (But no plan is found, thus no Release and no result recording.)
This is the only inspection plan in the whole system, thus no risk of mixing with another.

Answer:
Then in that case, it would be pretty much because of the control key at the operation level of your inspection plan.
What control key are you using?
Please make sure that your control key is such that at-least the two boxes
"insp. char required" and "scheduling" are checked.
Tell us how it turns out

Answer:
Dear Trygve
In the material master (mm02), quality management, inspection setup, u have to activate inspection type 04
Ur inspection plan is correct
U have to assign the group (inspection plan) to material & plant before gr
If gr raised, no inspection plan, then u can assign group to that material by changing date to previuos date wrt gr. Then goto QA02, select that lot, click on task list/spec on inspection spec tab & click smpl on Sample tab
Hope this will solve ur problem

Answer:
Hi !
Tanuj :
I used Control key QM01, which had only "insp. char required" checked.
I've created ZQ01 which is a copy of QM01, but with "scheduling" added.
It still doesn't find the plan.
VB :
Insp.type 04 is active, material and plant is assigned to the plan and using QA02 assigning still gives me the same message 'No insp.plan could be found'.

Answer:
you could try the following.
1)
I've assigned a MIC to the Insp.plan. (This MIC's have been made by referencing a Class characteristic to create the link, and it's released.)
Instead of this, at the operation level of your routing, select the operation and click on inspection char. Try attaching your inspection chars there.
2) In customizing, go to QM --> Quality Inspection --> Inspection lot processing --> inspection lot creation --> maintain inspection lot origins and assign inspection types.
When u enter here, make sure that TL type 'Q' is assigned to the origin '04'.

That was it. It was set to '2' (Master Recipe).
THANKS A LOT !!

Congrats!
although with so much irony in it, since this was the first thing that I thought of and the last thing I suggested, assuming it to be a standard SAP setting.

Answer:
It could be that Q is the std. setting, but I suppose that somebody here might have done some testing back in '97/98 ( before I joined the project ) and changed the setting to 2 ( since we're using PP-PI ) without really knowing what they did.
