Hi,
We are encountering an issue when trying to release stock from QI. What happened was when the purchase order and goods receipt was created and posted, the inspection set up for the material-plant was de-activated, but the material was placed in QI upon GR. Therefore, no inspection lot was created for the material document (GR).
We are trying to manually create an inspection lot for the material-batch but we cannot move the stock from QI to unrestricted after approving the usage decision. Is there a way to link the manually created inspection lot (inspection type 01) to the GR material document so that we can move the stock from QI to unrestricted?
Another factor to consider is that currently, the QM set up is activated therefore we cannot do 321 movement type (stock transfer from QI to unrestricted using MB1B). We cannot de-activate inspection set up from material master since there is already existing QI stock.
Please advise on what can be done to release stock from QI.

Hi,
You need to reverse the Material Document ( 101) and inward the material once again .in case you want inspection Lot to trigger maintain QM view ( Insp.setup ) in material master before GR .

Thanks for all your input. I was still unable to remove the stock from QI due to the following reasons:
1. For this scenario:
You need to reverse the Material Document ( 101) and inward the material once again .in case you want inspection Lot to trigger maintain QM view ( Insp.setup ) in material master before GR .
--> I cannot reverse the material document since currently, I have QI stock of 30,000 for the material and the inspection set up in the material master for inspection type 08 is ACTIVE. Therefore, upon reversal, I get a system error saying: "Change the inspection stock of material XXXX in QM only".
--> I cannot change the QM view for inspection set up since there is already QI stock for material.
2. For thi scenario:
Since no insp lot is created you can use Mvt type 321 to clear the quality stock into unrest stock.
--> I cannot do movement 321 for the stock in QI for the same reason. It says that since QM inspection type is active, I can only change stocks via QM transaction.
Please advise of any other way on how this can be solved.

Try going to QA08 and assign inspection type 01 ... select the checkbox that says "Activate Despite Inspection Stock"
This will create a lot for you which you can then post into unrestricted.

Thanks for the info. I've been trying to use this transaction... but I can only deactivate the inspection type if there is still one type left active for the material. For example, I have inspection types 01 and 08 active. I can only succesfully deactivate 1 inspection type. When I try to do the same for the other type, it gives out message: No Material wa Processed. And if even 1 inspection type is active for the material, I am still not able to remove the QI stock for material.
Is this a limitation of transaction QA08? Or should there be additional settings that I should do to de-activate both the inspection types for the material?

There are two things here ... activate inspection type and assign inspection type.
In your case, you are not able to assign the inspection type 01, because there is stock. So the checkbox, "activate despite inspection stock" will take care of that.
Also, there is a checkbox that says, "Assign inspection type". Do an F1 on that and check out the help. In your case both these checkboxes must be checked. On top enter the plant and material. Below,enter inspection type 01.
Also in this case, since this is just one material and not a list, check the checkbox, "Do not display material list". The next screen will show you the inspection lot that the system has created and I think it will automatically clear the stock. If not, then you can clear it.

Sorry for the confusion. This is the current set up we have in the system:
1. I have the following inspection types for the material in QM view: 01 and 08. Only 08 is currently active.
2. There is existing QI stock for this material (MMBE) to which NO inspection lot is assigned. The reason for this is that they have goods receipt the qty into QI when the former set up for material master QM is inspection type NOT active. Therefore, no inspection lot was created during that time.
Now, we want to release stock from QI but we cannot do this since the current material master set up is now inspection type active for 08.
Please advise what can be done we are trying these options:
1. de-activate the inspection set up 08 so that we can just do movement 321 to manually transfer QI stock to unrestricted.
2. create an inspection lot manually and assign this to the GR document so that we can release the stock from QI upon doing usage decision.
For both options, we cannot proceed since we cannot de-activate QM ins. type set up because there is already stock in QI. And I am not sure if we can manually create inspection lot for the current QI stock and release this using this lot.

Hi,
I understood the problem. Please try the solution that I mentioned. Go to QA08. Enter the material and the plant. Enter Inspection type 01. Check the 3 boxes, "assign inspection type", "activate despite inspection stock" and "do not display material list".
Execute and it will create a lot for you.
