Insert task list without renumbering

Question: I have a PM order with operations numbered 100, 110, 120, and 130. I want to insert a general task list with operations numbered 50, 60, and 70. When I do the insert, the system renumbers the new tasks to 140, 150, and 160. Is there any way to stop this, so my new tasks remain at the original numbers (and therefore are inserted before the existing operations, and not after)?

TIA for your help!

Paul

Answer:
Paul,

Not at a system right now - in fact they've removed it for a couple of weeks - just the sort of thing you need on an implementation project!!!

There is a setting in the IMG (under Task Lists I think) for renumbering of operations.

There is also a personal setting in the order (something like Extras->Settings...)

The problem comes when two task lists share the same operation number -what does the system do then???

There is always the fall-back option - put the operation number in the short-text, or user-fields (enhancement tab)

Answer:
Thanks as always, Pete. I didn't find anything in config, but I did play around with the various Task List Transfer settings under Extras > Settings > Default values. Unfortunately, none of them actually do what I need - no matter what I tried, the system would always renumber the next task list operations and include them after the existing operations.

I find it hard to believe this isn't possible, but with SAP I guess you never know...

Answer:
Paul,

I'm telling you a heap of rubbish.

Here's the IMG setting (no TCode I'm afraid):

Plant Maintenance and Customer Service
Maintenance and Service Processing
Maintenance and Service Orders
Functions and Settings for Order Types
Default Values for Task List Data and Profile Assignments

Answer:
Thanks Pete, but these are the same options available under the user's Default Values, and they don't work.

Just for fun, check out the Help for the "Renumber" option; unless I'm reading it wrong, the example SAP supplies is totally contradictory to how they say this option should work!

Answer:
Paul,

It usually works.

You're not using any of the following are you?:

- user-exits
- variant configuration
- BADIs

Answer:
Hello

(As far as my understanding goes...)

The indicator relevant is: Renumber
The help is as below

If the order, in which you want to include the task list operations,
already contains operations which you do not want to delete, you must
note the following dependencies:

o If you set the indicator
In this case, the system determines the numbers for the task list
operations based on the highest number of the operations already
created in the order and the increment specified.
Example:
Increment: 5
Numbers in Numbers in
task list order
5
10
15
10 > 20
20 > 25
50 > 30

o If you do not set the indicator
In this case, the system calculates the numbers for the task list
operations by adding the highest number of the operations which
already exist in the order and the number of the operation in the
task list.
Example:
Numbers in Numbers in
task list order
5
10
15
10 > 25
20 > 35
50 > 65

From the above it seems that when you insert operations from another Task List(B) appending the existing operations (A) in the Work Order, the numbering of the new operations (from B) will always be higher than the highest number of the existing operation(A) in the Work Order
This means you cannot insert inbetween the existing operations (A) by manipulating the operations numbering of B

This is my understanding. More from Experts
