Setting up permit for automatic assignment to PM Order

Question: Hi ,
I'm currently trying to setup a permit for automatic assignment to PM orders through classification.
I have a "PERMIT" class (of type 049) for permit group "PM". But when I try to create a permit with classification, I keep getting the following message after clicking on the "Classification" button in the Maintain Permits screen of transaction IPMD:

No assignments found
Message no. CL570

Diagnosis
You want to display the class to which an object is assigned. However, the object is not assigned to any classes yet.

Could someone please help and point out what I'm doing wrong? I couldn't quite understand why there's a problem as I have followed all instructions in the online documentation.

Many thanks in advance.

Answer:
Hi,

The steps are as follwos:

1) Create a Permit group in config (say PM - with class type Permit).
2) Create a Class - Permit - type 049.
3) Create a Char with the follwoing details in Addnl data tab :
Table Name = CSEVPERMIT and Field name = the field name from which you want the permit determination to work say AUART.
4) Assign this Char to the class.
5) In IPMD now the Traffic light on Permit class should be Green.
6) Now in Permit change mode press button Classification\

This should bring you to classification screen and then you need to specify the value for the field for which you want this permit to be automatically pulled in : say PM01.

Try it out and come back if any issues.

bhartiaa,
Many thanks for your directions. I think I had my steps mixed up a little bit in my initial attempt. By following your instructions exactly, I've been able to get the automatic assignment working.

I have one more question. The criteria that I've been using so far are for exact matches of values. Is it possible for me to set "Greater Than" criteria on, say, the total planned cost? This way, I can have a permit automatically assigned to any order for which the total planned cost is greated that an accepted benchmark.

Many thanks again for your help.

Answer:
HI

For the Characteristic you wish to assign the range values i.e >1000, >2000 and < 3000 etc.,

Goto CT04 and for this characteristic -> Baic Data Tab -> Value Assignment -> Tick the Intervalues Checkbox. In the Values Tab you can maintain the allowed ranges like >1000 etc.,

Hope this helps.

Answer:
Thanks for your help kuk. I did what you suggested and got the desired result.

Big thanks to both bhartiaa and kuk for helping in getting the auto assignment working the way I want.

Hi

I'm joining this query, as i am stuck at a similar position. I'm able to use the field name of "ordertype" in the characteristics and the permits are attaching to the order.

However, when ever, i use the fields like "pkosten" under table CSEPERMIT (which is for the planned cost), my permits are not defaulting.

Also, i observe that when i assign this characteristics to the class under the IPMD transaction, i get a warning stating the characteristics is not assigned to the permti class 049 and in its explanation it is written that the values will not be defaulted during the check.

Why does it happen this way, is there some other setting where in we need to associate the table name, field and the class type.

Please guide

Thanks

Hi,

I do not have a system at present so am unable to replicate. I think it should work, I have done with Estimated costs and it had worked.

As for the warning you receive, just ignore it. It always comes , but should have no impact on the functionality.

Hi jcs,
If you are still having trouble with using CSEPERMIT-PKOSTEN in your permit, make sure you are setting up the characteristic with "Interval val allowed" checked. Also you need to be very careful when specifying your interval value. When I left out a space between ">" and "100", the system did not recognise the "greater than 100 dollars" rule that i was intending to put in. Make sure you're adhering to the rules when specifying the interval values.

Answer:
Hi all,

We have observed one more case, I am not sure whether it is SAP functionality or else.
The permit is automatically assigning in the order, if only one characteristic is assigned in the class. If more then one characteristics are assigned in the class, then it is not working.
For example there are two characteristics assigned in the class
PM_Permit
1. For Estimated cost(CSEVPERMIT_USER4)
2.Order Type (CSEVPERMIT_AUART)

Now in a Permit H(Maintenance process Permit) in Classification only Value for Estimated cost is put >10000
When creating the order and puting estimated cost even more then 10000, the permit is nott issuing.
But if we remove one characteristic, from the class, then it is working fine.
Can any one elobrate this????

thanks

Answer:
Hi ,
I currently have a permit which has two characteristics/conditions:
1. Total Planned Cost (CSEVPERMIT-PKOSTEN) -- cond.: > 100
2. Maint. Activity Type (CSEVPERMIT-ILART) -- cond.: = 002

This permit has been working correctly for me. I.E. when my total planned costs is greater than 100 AND the Maint. Act. Type is "002", then the permit is automatically assigned.

Please keep in mind that the conditions you set using multiple characteristics are "ANDed" together. All conditions have to be satisfied before the permit will be assigned.

Also, I've noticed that the permit is only visible in the order after I have saved the order once after all conditions have been satisfied.

Hope this helps.

Answer:
Hi

I think that if you assign more than one characteristic to the permit then the values assigned to those permits will determine whether the permit is assigned or not. If one of the characteristics, for example the order type, is left blank then that is the value considered in the search. If you are not going to use the characteristic remove it. If you are going to use it then assign a value(s) or a range to it.

The program determines the permit during the maintenance order save and / or release processes only.

Hi All,
I am able to use the permits correctly with this method. Only thing is how do I set the condition "AND" for multiple characteristics selected for the permit class.......as indicated above in previous discussion. Also is ther any other settings like "OR" and "AND" combination ?
Thanks
