Question:
Hello,
A material A is being replaced for another material B (as the vendor has disappeared). As the stock of material A is reaching 0, it is important that each time that the material A is inserted in maintenance orders, it appears only the material B instead of A.
In SD, there is method to have material determination by which it is possible to indicate this replacement. However, the only way that it seems there is for this in maintenance is the use of a discontinuation indicator in the material master of A indicating as follow up material B.
However, this works ok if the material A is inserted in the maintenance order as L stock material, but not when it is inserted as N non-stock material.
Is there any other way/method to perform this replacement / discontinuation in maintenance/service orders?
Thanks in advance for your reply and have a nice coming workerīs day!!

Answer:
Hi,
I would wonder why you did not update your BOM where material A is replaced with material B.

Hello,
Because there is no BOM. In maintenance orders, I can use for different works different materials, so we donīt have any BOM.

bbm,
I don't think there is anything standard for this issue.
It would probably need development.
Try opening an OSS Message to SAP. It would be interesting to hear their response...
