Emulating Postscript printing on HP PCL printer

Question: Hi there,

I am struggling with a printing problem and would appreciate any help. One of our users has recently changed from a Postscript driver
printer (Apple Lasewriter) to a PCL driver printer (HP4100).
This has caused a number of our layout sets to be shifted
slightly to the right because the layout sets were originally
set up for the Postscript printer. According to OSS Note #101266
this happens because the PCL printer has different absolute
positions. According to the HP printer configuration, Postscript
should also be supported, but when I try to set the print driver
to PS on the HP printer, via SPAD, no print comes out. Does
anyone know of a solution other than changing the layout sets
themselves, please?
Kind regards
Kenny

Answer:
What kind of printing method are you using in SPAD?

In our company we are using access method C - Direct Operating system Call.
If we want to set up a Postscript driver the printer share on the network that we connect to must also be defined using a Postscript driver.

If we have a postscript driver in SAP pointing to a printer share that is a PCL driver we get a bunch of garbage being printed.
