Question:
Hi,
When startsap is executed, the message shows that Database and instance is started. startsap log also says the same.
SAP is not working
I observed the following things.
Logged in as oraSID and checked sapdba
DATABASE : open
SAPMBD : 620, not connected.
When I checked the process in OS level, none of the oracle process are running except listener.
Only few of the SAP process running
OS: Solaris 9 DB: Oracle 9.x.x.x SAP R/3 4.71
How do I proceed.? Please help
Ashraf.
Answer:
Check with ps -ef | grep dw ( you should not see any..as u have mentioned SAP is down)
Then check for work / trace files....it will give you a hint why SAP WPs are killing.
Answer:
Thanks for the reply
None of the dw process running.
Ok, I will checkup traces and will comeback.
Ashraf.
Answer:
was this system built from a 'system refresh' ? If so, you may have old hostnames in your configuration files (such as the start profile etc...)

Answer:
Yes. This is a restored system. I think a brief history of the system will be helpfull to get an overall picture. Hope it will help me to get a solution.
The restoration process I adopted may be different from that of standard procedure. This particular way is adopted to minimise the downtime. This is done on a test basis prior to an actual restoration which is planned few days later.
We want only to change hardware to a more powerfull box.

Look like an issue with bounding a socket to the TCP port. Which can be caused by your second message below.
*** WARNING => DpNetCheck: NiServToNo(sapdp00) failed (rc=-3)
*** ERROR => DpNetCheck: NiServToNo(sapgw00) failed (rc=-3) [dpxxtool2.c 3313]
***LOG GZZ=> 2 possible network problems detected - check tracefile and adjust the DNS settings [dpxxtool2.c 3452]
It might be an inconsistency between hostname and DNS resolve name.
Answer:
edit /etc/services and add sapms[SID]
edit listener.ora
