Can you please help me in figuring out below:
1) When i run the ALV in the background, they need the resulting report in Excel format. We can't directly download into excel format in the background. One suggestion given by lead here is to write another program to take the o/p of finished background job & download into excel format in the foreground. Can you plz suggest a way to carry this out?

Answer:
You could have a second program that reads the spool. There are many FMs to do that which you can find if you search. The hard part will be working out what column is where.
But it might be simpler to simply save the internal table of data to a file. Depends if the ALV report is a standard one or not.
