Look at the possibilities that the fieldcat structure offers.
there is edit_mask, decimals_out, ecc...
Also the fields to reference to unit of measure or currency...

Use tcode SU3, click on the 'Defaults' card and see what you have set in the frame 'Decimal notation'. If you would change this option you will have to probably re-log in (depends on your version of kernel etc.).
