Has anyone worked with BAPI_SALESORDER_SIMULATE function module. I wanted to know in case of a normal material and BOM how the data for pricing can be extracted from this function module.

I've used it, although some time back.
I think I used it for exactly the method that you described, ie. obtaining pricing info.
This info is returned into one of the itabs associated with the BAPI.
If you read the documentation for the BAPI (tranx BAPI) all should become clear.
Sorry I can't be a little more positive, I can't look up the code to check as I'm no longer working for the company that I originally wrote it for.

Answer:
SAP uses this BAPI in transaction VW01. Have a look at the code in there.
