User assignment in standard role - extend assigned to date

Question: Hi everyone!

I have an anoying problem maintaining the user assignments in the standard role. Hopefully you can give me an idea what the best way is to solve this (or to change the workflow

We have a workflow running to decide if spare parts needs to be purchased or to use from local stock. The responsible agent is found via a standard role. In this role they have defined per plant the users which should receive the work item.

Now, it is policy overhere that the Security departments extends the users validity periods every year, so for example my user ID has a validity period till 31.12.2005 and will now be changed into 31.12.2006.

In the standard role, my user is added and at that time it will take over the valid to date of the user ID to the assigned to date in the responsibilities screen.

When my user is changed, I see this also in the responsibilities screen but I cannot extend the assigned to date to a later date. We now have to manually delete the user assignment in the role and add them again. We will do this for this year, but we hope to have a better solution at the end of next year

Do you know of a better way to extend the assigned to date of the assigned user in the standard role when the validity is changed of the specific user ID or do you think that we should use another way to define which users should get the workitem, if so please let me know!!

Hope to hear from you!!

Answer:
You can try this....

Goto transaction PSO4 (Maintain Infotype)
Object Type - RY (Responsibility)
Object ID - This is the org id of your responsiblity. The abbreviation will be the same as that of your rule. Use F4 to get the ID.

Execute and change the infotype, selecting 1001 (Relationships)

Change the validity here.....

You might need to wrap the whole operation in a BDC or something for automation.

Hope this helps....
