# unassigned

Question: hi gurus...

i have this report and on that report figures are showing under the # unassigned material. I believe that this #material is due to the fact that there's no specific code for the material. How do i trace this material in the source system or in the BW master data for materials? considering it is showing some values..

thanks.

Answer:
Why do u want to trace the material for which the code does not exist.

I m not able to understand ur actual reqt. Whenever a value appears with # value of the char it means that the char value is absent in the record.

Answer:
so that i can be able to know where the record came from. so for example for # material it has a value of 30. so how will i know where the 30 was taken?

does #material may be composed of many materials and just dont have any specific code?

Answer:
'# unassigned' means that the field is blank.

'# unassigned' means that the field is blank.
True. What it might mean is that in the source system, a posting was made without giving information on the material (giving other information like vendor, purchasing org, company code, plant, etc.). If you are looking to reconcile BW data with R/3 data, try drill-down using other characteristics (vendor, plant, company code, etc) and with some amount of patience you can find what you are looking for in R/3. Depending on your selection criterion, you might end up looking through quite a lot of stuff on the R/3 side.

Cheers
Sean.

Answer:
i know now where's the values are coming in...prob now is if i try to diactivate my hierarchy, its not showing up the unassigned values resulting to inconsistencies with having the hierarchy active and that not active.
