Data modeling - estimation effort

Question: Dear alll,

Please let me know about what should I consider while looking at the necessary effort to data model and load 27 different DB2 files into BW. Total of 850 fields in the 27 files (which of them 500 are different)?
How can I estimate the time for to do this? what sub tasks?

Should I:
1. create an infocube per file? (there is some pressure on time)
2. create new infoobjects per field or loose(!) time trying to find match infoobjects in SAP? or mix?

Please let me know if has someone pass this experience and let me know how many time it took?

Thanks

Answer:
I am assuming these are all transaction or fact data? If they are then just create infoobjects (re-using the common ones) and load them into ODS objects.

If this is a mix of transaction and master data, then you really need to take the time to model the proper InfoObjects and create a proper ODS source.

If you don't plan to link this information to R/3 information, you can forgo mapping it to existing SAP InfoObjects, as I am guessing these are simplified more then delivered SAP InfoObjects.

What the data is drives how long it will take you to get in properly.
